Which language would you like to learn? All of them please!

That would be my answer. It is no coincidence that I have a deep love for languages. Since my dad is Lebanese and my mother is Peruvian, I grew up surrounded by both cultures and languages. I knew from a young age that I want my future profession to have something to do with languages, cultures and people. Having two people who speak different languages understand each other was simply fascinating.

I once read “Turn your love for language into a translation career” and that is what I did. I never hesitated to choose translation because my passion for languages simply made me do it. Translation has always been a continuous activity for me, I used to translate everywhere: with my family, at school, among my friends and even abroad. I enjoy learning new languages, immersing myself into a language, and understanding the cultures and traditions that go along with them. I find it fascinating how various languages convey universal ideas in various ways. You are unavoidably exposed to other cultures and thought processes as a translator. This broadens your perspective and teaches you to consider factors from various perspectives. I find this to be a really rewarding and fulfilling component.

Another thing I love about translating is enabling communication; I realized that I enjoy mediating between people who speak different languages. There is some sort of satisfaction in enabling communication between two people or between writer and reader.

Translation is a profession where you keep learning every day. When we translate, we become the bridge that not only unites two languages but also two cultures.
